I’m Not Some Girl
by Lauren Young
I’m not some girl
That you’ll meet on the street.
Not some old, broken philosophy
Of love.
You can’t ask me
Everyday questions
About life and love
And promises.
Who really know
The answers,
Anyways?
You won’t find me
Alone at the coffee shop.
Your usual pick-up lines
Won’t work.
I’m not really your
Special someone.
‘Cause it’s not always
Love at first sight.
I won’t fall head over heels
For you.
And I won’t stay home
Waiting by the phone.
